Saturday Morning Post ~ Kelly, Phoebe and Jill

This is Autumn Daze, a quilt made by Kelly for Honey Run Quilters that will be going to PIQF this October. Posted on a new Facebook page that is still in the works and now here on the blog. Kelly picked up this beauty on Thursday morning.

Made good progress this month with one more quilt on my frame to finish out August. This will be the first month in about a year that there will not be any, not one! quilt on 'the list' carried over to the next month... Yea! It's a great feeling.

Can't get too excited tho, the list is still booked until April of 2016 with September and October full to capacity with quilts that were 'put off' while I was taking care of my Mom. November is our guild's quilt show, lots of quilts to be finished for the show and quilts for the holidays. Busy, busy, busy!

Ever so grateful for so many wonderful quilters
that entrust their quilts to my care and quilting.
Thank you!

back to Kelly's quilt ...
Love those little fussy cut cornerstones and the care taken for the layout
Great backing, all the fabrics are, of course, available at Honey Run Quilters :0)

 Quilting design is called Solar
using two colors of Omni thread from Superior Threads.
Vanilla Wafer for the top and Hazelnut on the backing.
Even the thread names say Autumn!
Thank you Kelly

A few more finishes... two for Phoebe
Phoebe is one of the Scrappy Queens from Goldie's Scrap Happy Days :0)

who must be pulling from her purple, teal and blue baskets to make both of these quilts!

Snowball Nine Patch which was fun to set up a repeated e2e in the blocks
One of my favorite options and layouts to set up these daze.
Creates a custom look at an e2e price :0) Win! Win!

Both quilts were quilted with Fantastico variegated threads
this one backed with an Omni thread in Blue Turquoise

Close up of Phoebe's first one... quilted with Rapunzel e2e
Definitely a fun design and a favorite
Thank you Phoebe!

Also finished and picked up this week are quilts for Betty posted here
and Cool Beans quilted for Claudia posted here

Plus one for Jill whom I haven't quilted for in exactly a year this month.
A Baseball Baby quilt made with great baseball fabrics and a panel
Quilted with Star Bright using a Fantastico variegated thread in red, white and blue.
It worked!
and the perfect backing fabric!
Nice! Glad to see Jill is back to quilting. Jill's home was flooded when we actually had one big rain storm last year that flooded Los Molinos. She lost allot of fabric along with a king size quilt she was working on. After a summer of repairs and replacements for their home, she is happily back at her machine! In fact, she took up half of February on the list!
Thank you Jill!
Speaking of rain, we have a weird little storm moving thru early this morning with just a little bit of rain, yes, just enough to muddy up the dust on the cars! It's just getting light out and the ground is dry again already. The clouds are keeping the heat in so it's also warm and humid. Chico hit triple digits again this week, hopefully the last for the summer as this system promises to bring some cool temps. Looking forward to that and the coming of Autumn, my favorite season! Yea!!!
Enjoy your weekend
Make some time to take some stitches!

Butterflies for Betty's Baby Quilt

How cute are these Suzie's Zoo fabrics

Especially this little guy with a snail

Check out the little itty bitty red border! 1/4 inch if that!
Two of them, around the center fabric and again along the inside of the outer border.

Betty did such an incredible job at piecing this cute baby quilt
with a backing of a very soft ribbed minkee like fabric

Quilted with a wool bat from Quilter's Dream
This baby quilt is the softest most cuddly quilt ever!
Quilted with butterflies, both around the borders
and e2e butterflies, hearts and flowers in the center.
Thread is a yellow Omni from Superior

Another quilt for Betty
Eagles

Betty has used this eagle fabric to make two Eagle Scout quilts
for grandsons. This is #3 but without the Boy Scout badge fabric
which she used up and is no longer available :0(

I like how Betty combined these eagle fabrics with black and green

Quilted with a Glide thread in a blue named Tar Heel
to match the sky with a great cloud design.

Well done!
Thank you Betty
and for sending a card too, very nice!

This is Claudia's second quilt made using this fabric collection

Sew nice we did it twice!
Quilted with Cool Beans
Batting is Quilter's Dream Wool

Different backing this time
This fabric worked really well with the thread color

So Cool!
Love the saturation of color
Thank you Claudia!

Saturday Morning Post ~ Delores

It's been a productive month in Moonbear's studio! The first part of August's quilting time was devoted to Delores who brought along 6 quilts and 4 pillow shams from Arizona. Five of those quilts were king size and one queen. Delores doesn't make little quilts! She comes to Chico to visit her sister and brings along her completed tops which get quilted while she visits and then she heads back home with her quilts. Here are a few pix...

This quilt has a panel that she pieced into the top, loved the colors and here, how the early morning sun caught the flowers as I was taking pics. Quilting design is Pearls and Feathers. All of Delores' quilts are quilted with Poly Puff, a batting from Quilter's Dream that she loves for the loft... and it has allot of loft! Quilted with a purple Glide thread.

This was a fun quilt, a Broken Rail which we found worked perfect for a quilting design by Jessica at Digi-Tech called Bubble Weave. Again, the Poly Puff bat and a Glide thread in Marine.

These are the pillow shams on my frame, loaded side by side worked really well...

There were two king quilts made with the Poppy fabrics and a third king made with the teal and black fabrics with a black and white print. I didn't put up all of the quilts for pix because of their size, but here are the first five with shams stacked on my table while I worked on the last quilt...

No.6 is a quilt that was made by another sister who has since passed away, so this was a special one. Each block is the same layout, 16 total all made with allot of machine applique detail. Both sisters were happy to see it quilted.

Quilted with allot of outlining and a border/corner set for the outer borders as well as added along the sashing. The backing Delores brought was a beautiful batik wide back in aqua greens. It was perfect! Quilted with several threads, Glide for the borders and So Fine #50 which has become my favorite thread from Superior Threads for outlining and custom stitching.

Thank you Delores and Alice! Next visit is scheduled in March 2016

Seven more quilts completed this week, yep it's been a good month for catching up! One is in the last post, the Christmas quilt for Beckie. Another posted this morning on the new Facebook page, also a sample for Honey Run Quilters made by Kelly that will be going to PIQF in October. The pic was taken yesterday at the beginning of the stitch out, it's finished now along with two for Betty D, two for Phoebe and one for Claudia.

Enjoy your weekend
I am headed into the studio to take pix of and trim this week's beauties
and then spend the rest of the weekend on my quilts!
Very happy with some cooler temps...
You know you live in the North Valley when the low 90's are cool temps!!!

Holiday sample quilt

Love this pattern Beckie chose to make this holiday sample quilt
for Honey Run Quilters made with these cute holiday fabrics at the store.
All Christmas and Halloween fabrics are on sale this month!
The fabric folded on the right is the backing
Quilted with an e2e by Kim Diamond ~ Sweet Dreams Studio
using a black Omni thread from Superior Threads
with wool batting from Quilter's Dream

Soon to join the first sample Beckie made for Honey Run
It's up on the wall at the store right now...
Temps are back in the triple digits this week which makes for early mornings at the longarm while temps are cool. My early morning schedule has cut into my morning blog time and I miss it! Looking forward to some cooler temps the rest of the week.

Beautiful Bargello by Dianna

Bargello made by Dianna in Autumn colors
How gorgeous is this quilt!!!
A labor of love

I first met Dianna in Honey Run Quilters last year
as she was picking fabrics for this quilt top.

Dianna added a double flange to her borders
made with two colors of Radiance. The Radiance was
added to the blocks as well which really shows off the quilting.
Dianna embroidered family names along the bottom border.

A matching pillow quilted with the same design
using a Glide thread in Desert Sunset for the top
and Gold in the bobbin to match the Minkee backing
Love how the quilting looks on Minkee
Dianna found this extra wide Minkee at Honey Run Quilters
which was perfect with no seams! Yea

Thank you Dianna

Sandy's quilt is also finished this week as well as one for Betty delivered yesterday during a wonderful workshop with Lynn Wilder of Sew'n Wild Oaks. Lynn posted a pic on her blog as our guest speaker during her lecture on Thursday at Annie's Star Quilt Guild meeting in Chico, CA. Here is the link. Lynn also included a link to her HST video taped on The Quilt Show. Friday was Lynn's Patchwork Math workshop. We had a good turn out and it was so much fun!
It was really wonderful to meet Lynn and take her workshop. I've been following Lynn's blog for some time and it was really cool to meet! Thank you Lynn and Gail, her partner and sister. It was a wonderful meeting and workshop. I learned so much and am looking forward to putting that math to work very soon. Today however, was a day of working at the longarm to make up for taking yesterday off. Stay tuned for more about the workshop with pix on Lynn's blog as well as on my blog Ramblin' Rows.
Enjoy your weekend!
