Quilts for JoAnn

JoAnn decided early this year to make a quilt for each of her grandchildren for Christmas this year. I was honored that she asked me to quilt these special quilts for her family. Following are pix of the quilts she made...
This quilt has wonderful colors, the circles are done with applique. This one was so nice she made it twice! JoAnn made a few fabric changes however, they are almost the same. We quilted the same design on both, curves and bubbles ~ Deep Blue Sea.
This is the backing fabric on both quilts. Beautiful
This quilt is named Garden Maze. For a grand daughter who loves pink and purple!
quilted with Just Roses
This is the magazine pic which gives a better idea of the whole quilt. It's big and with the weather I was not able to take the last quilts quilted for JoAnn outside for photos.
This is Tess Elation, also from a magazine as pictured. Two got by me without a photo.

This is the Star quilt, quilted with Meandering Feathers.
Lots of Y seams, JoAnn did an amazing job piecing this quilt.

Love the applique that JoAnn added to this quilt
Bright colors, quilted with an all over leaf quilting design.
And the first quilt is...
one of my favorites ~ Civil War reproduction fabrics with lots of nine patches :0)
One last photo with the binding attached. JoAnn had me sew on the binding on all of the quilt tops. She finished the bindings, all of them sewn down by hand. JoAnn labeled all of the quilts, added a small pocket and included a small photo album of each quilt in progress. Very thoughtful!
She put all of her heart into this.

Her family owns a business ~ Z's Bees in Orland CA close to Chico.
Here is a picture of the grand kids and family from their web page...
The boxes stacked on pallets are called nucks and are used for the bees. Love the colors, they look like 3D quilts! It's nice to know that they will all be together soon with JoAnn and her DH. The grandkids will have their quilts to cuddle up in for Christmas.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Holiday Season!

Quilt wrap up for the Holidays

With quilts promised for the holidays completed, I am gearing down and taking some down time. I finished last weekend because I was summoned for Jury Duty this week. Not knowing what this week would bring, I made sure my customer's quilts were in their hands in time for binding and shipping. Thankfully, I was not picked to serve :0) Following are pix of quilts recently quilted...

There are three more that I quilted for JoAnn. She made a total of nine quilts for all of her grandchildren for Christmas! They are going to have a very special Christmas this year! I will do a separate post on JoAnn's quilts later this week. Hope everyone is enjoying the season and staying warm. As for me, I'm wrapped up in a quilt getting inspired on Pinterest!
Enjoy the Season!

Feathered Leaf

Feathered Leaf is a new machine quilting pattern that I started quilting on my longarm. I really like it. For an e2e it is a very nice design. Here it is quilted on Beckie's quilt...
Beckie loves to use wool batting. I do too, it really shows off the quilting!
The quilt pattern is Chocolate by Theresa Wright @ Honey Run Quilters
Beckie's beautifully mitered corners with great borders :0)
Wonderful colors, prints and a little Radiance fabric to make it shine. This quilt is a Christmas gift for Beckie's mom, colors that fit her decor... and it is big! Beckie also added the border design to the backing. Well done Beckie!

Feathered Leaf e2e
Feathered Leaf also quilted on a quilt for Bev. Loved the batiks and colors that she put together in this beauty. These are the best pictures as I didn't get the whole quilt before Bev picked it up. It's been way too cold to go outside to take pix and no room in my studio to hang big quilts.

Last night was another cold one here in California. The puddles left over from Friday's rain are still frozen! A flannel sheet I laid over a bed of strawberries is frozen stiff. Burr! Time to head out to my studio where the heater has been on since 5 this morning. Still have more quilts to finish for the holidays and then it's going to be time to start taking down my longarm. If all goes well, I will be starting out the new year with a different machine! I'm on pins and needles!

Enjoy your day, stitching away :0) Jo

Fall, flowers and butterflies

Fall came to an abrupt end this week. Freezing temps and a frosty white Sunday morning. Despite covering plants and adding lights we lost a few. We haven't been out to check this morning but it doesn't look good from the windows. Burrr!

In my workroom there are flowers and butterflies that are not going to freeze on these quilts :0)
This quilt is made by Takako.
Her quilts are made with embroidered blocks and sashing, this one is all roses.
This is Beckie's quilt. Quilted with an e2e of Butterflies.

Still fabricating a few window treatments every now and then. I finished four valances for a residential care facility. This is what my workroom was all about before I began longarming.
Another two quilts went out the door without pix. I did get a partial pic of this quilt for Bev A. using a new quilting pattern ~ Feathered Leaf. I have another quilt on the longarm for Beckie with the same design. I really like it and am considering it for one of my Civil War quilts.
and flowers in our yard before the freeze...

Glad I took a few photos before this cold front came in because these beauties are gone now. Bye bye flowers and Fall, hello winter! Hope you all are staying warm and toasty, under a quilt :0) curled up in a chair like I am right now or while working on one. Enjoy your day, Jo

Anchors Aweigh!

Anchors Aweigh made by Judy T
Love this quilt (too)! The best part of longarm quilting is working on so many wonderful quilts. I love the diversity and style of each quilter.
Judy is pretty new to quilting and I love where she is going with it!
Her quilt is big! (sideways for the pic)
Visit Judy's Pinterest Board to see more of her quilts :0)
Check out her basket weave quilt, it's amazing!
Anchors Aweigh on my longarm as I started the quilting design ~ Deep Blue Sea.
Quilted with a soft green/teal thread. Perfect choices for this quilt :0)
Well done Judy!
Close up of the quilting
