Kelly and Ripples

One of Kelly's Ripple quilts

Ripple is one of many quilt patterns by Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts
This and the one below are two smaller versions Kelly made since her workshop.
Both are quilted with two different Mola designs.
The one above with a custom e2e and the one below with an all over e2e.

Another Ripple quilted for Linda D

This one is set up with a custom e2e using a Celtic Knot design...

Great fabrics including the backing that Linda choose for her Ripple
that she pieced in Kelly's workshop. Sarah has one ready that I will be quilting soon!

Kelly has done several workshops, many from Jaybird Quilts. Toes in the Sand was a BOM we recently finished. I quilted Kelly's mermaid Toes and guess what, forgot to take pix before delivering the quilt last week... I tell you, I'm loosing it! I brought the quilt with me to Kelly's newest workshop... Gravity. Yep, another BOM from Jaybird. Already have some quilting designs in mind for this one as well :0)

A second quilt recently done for Kelly that I did remember to take pix...
is this quilt that went to PIQF with Honey Run Quilters as a sample with Kaffe prints

A modern Dresden with great prints!
Completely machine pieced including the inset circles...
Well done by Kelly a quilter extraordinaire!

Fun quilting design with fun fabrics using Sun Spirit by Kim Diamond
and a border print from Anne Bright. I took the border design and created
a new individual element that I quilted into the center of each of the blocks.
Quilted with Quilter's Dream Wool batting, it gave it a little dimension as well!

Thank you Kelly!

Mermaids swimming in Seaweed

Pattern is Wonton from our favorite triangle girl
Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts

Made by Kelly, GREAT fussy cutting!!!

Quilted on my Innova with Seaweed from Anne Bright
The perfect choice for this quilt :0)

 Kelly used a blue background
Batting is Quilter's Dream Wool with a thin layer of cotton
to keep the light fabrics nice and bright
Thread is Apricot Blossom, an Omni from Superior
with Natural White on the back

Seaweed is one of my favorite designs, love how it flows!
Anne did a great job of interlocking the rows, great design

Head on over to Honey Run Quilters to get a real life look.
Kelly is putting on the binding and it will be up as a store sample very soon!

If you like it, you will have to make one of your own
because this quilt has been claimed!

Snack Time and more for Linda

Linda D's quilt made in Kelly's Snack Time workshop at HRQ
Snack Time is a pattern from Jaybird Quilts

Julie has a number of patterns published now and is doing quite well.
A bunch of us quilters have done and are making a few of them
plus purchasing her specialty rulers... LOVE the Hex and More!
"helping fund her retirement" says Barbara (have to agree!) lol
I recently did a Pinterest search and found a pattern I purchased years ago that is from Jaybird called Taffy, so apparently I've been contributing for quite some time!

Great Kaffe fabrics! and the backing is perfect!!!
Well done Linda :0)
Thank you

Quilted with a design called Wild Cherries
Thread is a variegated SoFine40 from Superior
with a Omni thread called Wintergreen for the back.
Batting is a newer 100% cotton from Quilter's Dream
Cotton Deluxe. Love it! Again, really good alternative to W&N
note: it really IS 100% cotton! If you check out the fiber contents of Hobbs Cotton and
Warm & Natural you will find that both of their cotton bats have poly blended in.

I love how Linda combined her fabrics for her version
of Snack Time ~ nicknamed Cheerios!

Linda also made Modern Building Blocks which I quilted earlier this year.
(pictured below) also a workshop with Kelly

Today I finished another Modern Building Blocks for Karen G
and about to start a third one for Debbie D
pix soon
plus one more in the works by Fran

Kelly's workshops @ HRQ are pretty awesome!
So far it's been Modern Building Blocks, Ripple, Snack Time

This is Linda's Ripple quilted with Celtic Knot
set up as a custom e2e in each of the blocks ~ blog post

and we are two blocks into Toes in the Sand.
come join us or...
Rumor has it we may do Gravity next, altho
Sweet Tooth is looking pretty good too!!!
How about making a Tuffet? New to quilting?
Terri is teaching some great beginner quilt classes all the way to binding
Debbie teaches Free Motion Quilting
Janet has some great workshops planned on clothing construction
Goldie's sew days, lots of fun stuff! Class schedule

Kelly's Houses

The Red Door made by Kelly K
Pattern is by Bella Nonna Design Studio

Kelly used Shibori fabrics by Anthology, available at Honey Run Quilters
with a graphite for the background

Quilted with a black to grey Fantastico thread from Superior Threads
Batting is a new 100% cotton batting from Quilter's Dream
Deluxe which has a little more loft compared to Select
It's soft with a nice drape and great to quilt on!
A really good alternative to Warm and Natural!!! I like it allot!

The design we choose for quilting is Woodland Path
by Apricot Moon. A great design for texture
Love how the light greys in the variegated thread sparkle on the background.
Good choices all around :0) Thank you Kelly!

Enjoy your Sunday

Linda's Ripple Quilt

Ripple made by Linda D

Not for the faint of heart, all of the blocks are on bias.
Linda did an amazing job of keeping her piecing flat and square!
With perfectly matched intersections. Well done Linda!!!

We choose a repeating quilting design that would work well in the blocks,
another great design that works really well for a custom e2e.
Celtic Cross by Jessica Schick, designer and owner of Digi-Tech

 Batting is Quilter's Dream Machine
Thread is an Omni by Superior Thread
Colonial Gray which matched perfectly with Linda's background fabric

I was surprised to learn from Linda that her backing fabric was not from the same collection of fabric. The colors were absolutely a perfect match! Love how Linda pieced the backing with one narrow strip of a solid. From the perspective of a longarmer, very much appreciated because it reduced the bulk when I lined up the center seam of the quilt top with the backing. Yea! Great fabrics and color choices by Linda.

Linda made Ripple in one of Kelly's workshops at HRQ, plus she is finishing up Snack Time,   Kelly's most recent workshop. An encore of Snack Time workshop is coming up on March 20th plus Kelly is planing a BOM with Toes in the Sand. Lots of fun to be had at Honey Run Quilters! Kelly is coming by the studio today with one of her own quilts, can't wait to see what she brings in! I have the best customers! Thank you Linda!

I am off to finish the quilting on Beckie's gorgeous French Braid.
Enjoy your Leap Day! We have an extra day to play!

Quilts for Linda and Kathy

A quilt made last year by Linda D
made in Kelly K's workshop/BOM at Honeyrun Quilters and Cathy's

A large quilt made with blocks of all sizes!
Called Modern Building Blocks
Kelly does several great classes at HRQ including Ripple and most recently Snack Time

Quilted with a design from Anne Bright ~ Rapunzel
Which IMHO worked well with the Kaffe prints
Batting is Quilter's Dream Machine Blend
Thread is Fantastico, a variegated thread from Superior Threads
Thank you Linda!

Kathy W made this beauty...

Quilted with Curls and Swirls, a block design that can be set up at an e2e
and lined up with blocks of the quilt
creating a 'custom e2e' in the center field.
The borders are quilted with two border designs
The inner border is a swirl design by Jessica at Digi-tech
and the outer border is part of the Curls and Swirls set.

I didn't get a good pic of the outer border. Kathy drew lines for a
scalloped border and the quilting design followed her lines.
With winter and lots of rain, taking pix outdoors has not been an option :0(
Thank you Kathy!

Kelly K ~ T-shirt, quilts and Snack Time

This is a quilt Kelly made for a family friend quilted in December
It's the best T-shirt/shirt quilt I have ever seen, well done Kelly!
Made of both T-shirts and Hawaiian shirts

Each block is different and quilted differently as well
The shirts were fussy cut and pieced with fabric
Kelly mixed in mostly Moda's Grunge

I added flip flops to a couple of the blocks

Recently, I finished the quilting on two more quilts for Kelly
This small quilt Kelly made with yarn dyed fabrics, great color saturation

The quilt below is a store sample Kelly made
that will be up at Honey Run Quilters very soon
Fabrics available, of course, at Honey Run Quilters
The Grunge fabric from Moda is also available there
It's a really good fabric to blend with other fabrics, Kelly uses it allot
It's even in this sample quilt, the light has a tinge of green
that worked well with the green Omni thread used for the quilting

The quilting design is from Anne Bright named Sugar Skull Flowers
The batting Kelly brought in for all three quilts is Quilter's Dream Blend
Great batting for machine quilting, it's a cotton/poly blend

This coming Saturday, January 30th Kelly is teaching a class
Snack Time from Jaybird Quilts

If interested, call ahead to sign up
You will need the pattern and Hex and More ruler both by Jaybird Quilts
and available at the store
It will be a good class, Kelly's classes always are!
 Thank you Kelly

Saturday Morning Post ~ Kelly, Phoebe and Jill

This is Autumn Daze, a quilt made by Kelly for Honey Run Quilters that will be going to PIQF this October. Posted on a new Facebook page that is still in the works and now here on the blog. Kelly picked up this beauty on Thursday morning.

Made good progress this month with one more quilt on my frame to finish out August. This will be the first month in about a year that there will not be any, not one! quilt on 'the list' carried over to the next month... Yea! It's a great feeling.

Can't get too excited tho, the list is still booked until April of 2016 with September and October full to capacity with quilts that were 'put off' while I was taking care of my Mom. November is our guild's quilt show, lots of quilts to be finished for the show and quilts for the holidays. Busy, busy, busy!

Ever so grateful for so many wonderful quilters
that entrust their quilts to my care and quilting.
Thank you!

back to Kelly's quilt ...
Love those little fussy cut cornerstones and the care taken for the layout
Great backing, all the fabrics are, of course, available at Honey Run Quilters :0)

 Quilting design is called Solar
using two colors of Omni thread from Superior Threads.
Vanilla Wafer for the top and Hazelnut on the backing.
Even the thread names say Autumn!
Thank you Kelly

A few more finishes... two for Phoebe
Phoebe is one of the Scrappy Queens from Goldie's Scrap Happy Days :0)

who must be pulling from her purple, teal and blue baskets to make both of these quilts!

Snowball Nine Patch which was fun to set up a repeated e2e in the blocks
One of my favorite options and layouts to set up these daze.
Creates a custom look at an e2e price :0) Win! Win!

Both quilts were quilted with Fantastico variegated threads
this one backed with an Omni thread in Blue Turquoise

Close up of Phoebe's first one... quilted with Rapunzel e2e
Definitely a fun design and a favorite
Thank you Phoebe!

Also finished and picked up this week are quilts for Betty posted here
and Cool Beans quilted for Claudia posted here

Plus one for Jill whom I haven't quilted for in exactly a year this month.
A Baseball Baby quilt made with great baseball fabrics and a panel
Quilted with Star Bright using a Fantastico variegated thread in red, white and blue.
It worked!
and the perfect backing fabric!
Nice! Glad to see Jill is back to quilting. Jill's home was flooded when we actually had one big rain storm last year that flooded Los Molinos. She lost allot of fabric along with a king size quilt she was working on. After a summer of repairs and replacements for their home, she is happily back at her machine! In fact, she took up half of February on the list!
Thank you Jill!
Speaking of rain, we have a weird little storm moving thru early this morning with just a little bit of rain, yes, just enough to muddy up the dust on the cars! It's just getting light out and the ground is dry again already. The clouds are keeping the heat in so it's also warm and humid. Chico hit triple digits again this week, hopefully the last for the summer as this system promises to bring some cool temps. Looking forward to that and the coming of Autumn, my favorite season! Yea!!!
Enjoy your weekend
Make some time to take some stitches!
