Sandy and Phoebe, Scrap Happy Beauties

The unexpected loss of our quilting friend just before the holidays really knocked the stuffing out of many of us. I know I did more quilts for Sandy but not finding the file this evening with the exception of the Library Quilt. Didn't post allot of pix during December because I knew many of these beauties were intended as Christmas gifts including this quilt. The downside of waiting to post pix... is finding the photo files. Just like everything else in my life... chaos that needs organizing!!!  😞

Sandy's Library Quilt

Custom quilted with lots of fun ruler work. This was fun quilting to do for Sandy!
Added a little steam coming off the coffee cup :0)
The recipient of this quilt also loves Monopoly
plus Sandy added DVDs and book set favorites.

Love how Sandy made this scrappy ;0)

and this is Star Blossoms for Phoebe...
Scrappy as well!
I know exactly what book this came from... Scrap-Basket Beauties
by Kim Brackett. This quilt in the book is named Star Blossoms
and I absolutely love how Phoebe did it in Kaffe. Well done Phoebe!!!
This book was one of Goldie's favorites 💖

Custom quilting with a block design

Phoebe always picks a backing that's just as fun as the top! 👍

Thank you ladies... you are THE BEST!

Fish swimming in the Deep Blue Sea for Sandra

Fishiness quilted for Sandy with Deep Blue Sea
using the set by Kim Diamond that includes the borders, corners and e2e

Cute fish swimming in the Deep Blue Sea!
Great prints to go with the great piecing and fabric choices by Sandra E.

Love the graphic piecing pattern as well... well done Sandy!

A second graphic quilt made by Sandra, this one with cat prints...

quilted with Catrina, a design by Apricot Moon
This is the backing!... just as graphic as the front :0)

Another for Sandy... these girls keep me busy!
This one is quilted with a new design by Patricia Ritter named Malachite.

Chosen for the stone look of the background fabric
and a nice texture with the loft of the wool batting.

There was one more quilt that Sandy brought in with musical instruments
made for a young man from her church (it left the studio before pix)

Thank you Sandy.
Good to see all your pix of the Grand Canyon and that you and Mo
had a fun and safe trip to Arizona. Welcome home :0)

Goldie and the Girls

Sandy and Phoebe picked up Sandy's Bargello quilt this afternoon

The inner border or stop border is silk! Nice addition

Quilting design is Quill b2b in the center field with the Quill border/corner set
in the outer border. Quilted with Fantastico from Superior
Batting is Quilter's Dream 100% cotton in Deluxe, a new bat from QD
Much better alternative to W&N !!! No stems and seeds :0)

 Beautiful batik backing
Thank you Sandy, for the card too.
Michael loved it, we both did!

 Phoebe's VERY scrappy quilt!
As scrappy as it gets! Well done by our Scrappy Queen :0)

Even has a little bit of Halloween!

The friendship star with sashing is the primary block
and a Churn Dash emerged
where we choose to center the quilting pattern on and frame the stars
creating a custom e2e!

Quilting design is Twirl Pantograph by Keryn Emmerson
Quilted with Omni V, a wonderful new variegated thread from Superior.
Batting is QD Cotton Deluxe
Thank you Phoebe

and last but not least are 2 quilts for Goldie...
Pretty in Pink! Log cabins with a great Paisley border fabric
I choose a new paisley pattern from Anne Bright...
Paisley Loops
Goldie provided the batting, QD Polly Puff
It's a great 100% poly, great for a baby quilt
and it quilts and looks just like wool.

More pink plus the paisley fabric on the back... nice!

It's a toss up between Goldie and Phoebe for the Scrap Queen Crown!
Altho Sandy can hold her own as well!
This one by Goldie is great... with some really little squares!!!
All 1930s repros...
I choose a quilt design to compliment many of the traditional daisy prints.
April Flowers by Anne Bright

and a very sweet flannel backing fabric for this baby quilt

Thank you Goldie, Sandy and Phoebe!!!
aka The Goldie Girls ;0)

Saturday Morning Post ~ Sandy

Sandy's Diamond Girl
Quilting for Sandy on her diamond log cabin... this is the center of the quilt
with this wonderful embroidered image made by Kathy Thomas

The entire quilt on my big worktable
Rain was back the week I finished Sandy's quilt so it was back to indoor pix

This pic with the quilt draped over my frame shows the fabric colors better.
Many lovely vintage Robin Pandolph fabrics!

Some close ups of the quilting, front and back...

Quilting design in the center field is from One Song Needle Arts
Sierra Peaks ~ a collection of diamond, half diamonds both vertically
and horizontally and a quarter motif. They worked well for these blocks
Pearls were added to the stop border & the outer border is a p2p triangle.

Quilted with a soft pink/peach Omni thread
on Quilter's Dream Machine batting

Our preference would have been wool batting, however, with light fabrics
wool can leave a shadow effect, especially with a dark backing fabric.
Even tho this quilt has a light backing, the seam allowances were still obvious.
I am having the same issue with another quilt on my frame right now.

Thank you Sandy!

Sandy has her quilt finished earlier this month. This week has been a challenge with a customer showing up with five large quilts when last I heard, she was not able to come to Chico this month. Busy, busy busy!

Enjoy your National/International Quilting Day/Weekend/Week
(there are so many variations of it now ;0)
and sales too, The Quilt Show/Bernina is sponsoring a big one
The Sisters Collective QS and Sew Expo in Sacramento is this weekend
Big sale at the Colusa quilt shop, Friends Around the Block, too
right on the way to Yuba City!
Lots to do this weekend! Enjoy

Two for the Goldie Girls

This beauty is made by Sandra E
Another scrappy treasure, love how Sandy pieced the border :0)

This second quilt made by, none other... Goldie!

It's been awhile since I've frosted one for Goldie. We have another in the works plus a third that I will be picking up this week. Goldie's Stash Buster is coming up this Thursday 10 to 4 in the classroom at Cathy's and Honey Run Quilters. To see more of Goldie's work... Goldie as our featured quilter at one of our guild's past quilt shows.

Goldie's is quilted with New Wave, my favorite design to stitch out on a Bargello
Quilted with a cotton thread from Signature

Close ups of Sandy's...

Quilted with a new 2015 design by Jessica Schick at Digi-Tech named Ornamental Webs. I love how she sets up her designs as point to points. It makes using the designs so versatile. They can be flipped, mirrored and then linked together to run like an e2e. Once laid out on the computer and lined up with the blocks, it's a great option to give a custom look, especially when coupled with a border design.
This pic without the flash shows the quilting better. The very first pic with flash is a better example of the true colors. Beautiful Sandy, I love this one! Didn't get a pic with the backing, it's the same fabric at the inner border. Batting is Quilter's Dream Wool. Love the loft! Note: Good that we are getting lots of rain here in Northern California. Not good is that I have not been able to take pix outdoors. That is OK, we will take the much needed rain!

Thank you Sandy and Goldie
and all of the Goldie Girls who pitched in with a gift certificate for Goldie.
Very nice! See you Thursday :0)
