Saturday Morning Post Buzz

What was on my frame this week? Flowers and Bees :0)
Baskets of wool flowers with buttons

This Prim wall hanging for Tess
Wool applique with button hole stitches
in Pearl Cottons and wonderful colors!
Quilted with two layers of batting... a base of cotton
and a layer of wool on top to add that trapunto effect.
It really made the wool pop!!! Love the dimension.

Custom quilted McTavishing style
Black Omni on a dark brown wool background.
'Carefully' outlining the applique with lots of cute buttons :0)

I had fun echoing around this block's design

A little embroidery added by Tess

I enjoyed my time adding the McTavishing fill
behind Tess' applique and as a fill for the borders.

Also finished this week is a third quilt for Cindy
This one has an e2e with a floral border/corner design

X Factor was a challenge quilt that Cindy made her own by turning the X into a diamond :0)

Quilting design is an e2e ~ Summer Buzz
which worked with all the Bee fabrics. Great colors
bright and cheery fabrics!

Quilted with a yellow Omni with Warm & Natural batting
with lots more bees on the back

Thank you Tess and Cindy!
Good friends and members of our guild
Annie's Star Quilt Guild in Chico CA

This was one more (hopefully the last) warm week in Chico with triple digits this week. Without air conditioning in my studio, makes for some early starts and uncomfortable days. One more in the works, a wedding quilt for Peggy.
Enjoy your weekend

Finishes this week

A wall hanging made by Tess
Tess' request was for a circular design in the blocks
This wall hanging will go to a Mammography center.

I quilted a circle of hearts with echo stitching around them
and then repeated that design in the borders and corners.
Added a little ruler work in the HSTs
All quilted with two Glide threads in Pearl and Black
with two layers of batting ~ Wool to give it loft
with an under layer of cotton to help it hang nice.

Thank you Tess
Tess also dropped of a wool applique quilt that I am anxious to play on.

Meanwhile got caught up on a few more...
This quilt is made by a new to me customer, Sally V
Love the fabrics!

Quilted with Williamsburg e2e
using an Omni thread from Superior Threads
on Quilter's Dream cotton Select.
Love the paisley backing fabric too!
Thank you Sally :0)

One for Claudia

 Quilted with Escargot e2e

The backing fabric is the dark blue background with yellow flowers. I used two layers of batting for this quilt as well. A wool with a cotton layer. The reason for this quilt is because thru wool dark backing would shadow the light fabrics on the top. The cotton helps keep the top nice and bright white. Claudia also added some of the strips to her backing.

Love the loft of the wool, you can see it in these pix taken early in the morning
with a bit of sun as it rises.

Thank you Claudia!
Perfect piecing and good fabrics as always :0)
You are very much appreciated

Christmas in July for Barbara H
Love her pieced backing altho it was a challenge
to center the top with the backing
both horizontally as well as vertical.

Close up of the back
with my Points and Berries e2e
Its a wonderful red!

This baby quilt was quilted yesterday for my good friend Janie
She is so creative and loves to challenge both of us!

Top fabric is a knit, that when washed, created the crosshatch pattern
The batting is wool and the back is Minkee!
Kind of like trying to quilt three sponges together!

Janie raw edge appliqued all of the fabric squares onto the white knit fabric
using a decorative feather stitch on her machine.
That was a challenge in and of itself :0)
Really cute fabrics with Fox, Owls, a squirrel and a hedge hog
Stitching is added to the animal block prints
with Omni and Glide threads
and an extra square of wool batting
 behind the blocks
and this is Little Tweet on the Minkee backing...

Thank you Janie!
Took a break this morning to post pix, now off I go to add the binding!
See you soon!

Enjoy your weekend

Finishes to start out the year

Finished tops before the Gammill heads over to Kathy's shop in Orland.
This is a quilt made by Lori. Not real sure of the orientation  I saw the pattern for this quilt today, Kelly at Honey Run Quilters had it in her hands, the pic above is correct, it's quilted with a non directional quilting design ~ Bubbles Everywhere. I used a purple variegated thread that matched the background of the border fabric. A modern quilt with brights, especially the back...

Also finished is a quilt for Teresa
A large quilt she made for her son. Black and white prints and the Chinese Dragon panel with red fabrics in the center. Quilted with black thread, I added a Chinese Dragon panto design everywhere except the center panel. That I custom quilted, outlining with some echo around the dragon plus quilted rays radiating out from the sun in a medium grey thread. Close up of panto...

Wonderful scrappy quilt made by Frances P
Had some finishing touches to finish up on this quilt. Also finished one quickly for Cindy for her daughter, a fundraiser for her team. She picked it up last night and it was too dark for pix. A few more promised this coming week and spending time quilting with Kathy on the Gammill.

Watching the playoffs today. Denver is out front for the first game today with 10 minutes left. The 49ners are playing this afternoon's game against Seattle. Go Niners! Patriots just made a touchdown so this game is not over yet! I'm off to finish my mystery quilt top between games. Here is my layout...

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your day, stitching away!

Quilt wrap up for the Holidays

With quilts promised for the holidays completed, I am gearing down and taking some down time. I finished last weekend because I was summoned for Jury Duty this week. Not knowing what this week would bring, I made sure my customer's quilts were in their hands in time for binding and shipping. Thankfully, I was not picked to serve :0) Following are pix of quilts recently quilted...
Scrappy quilt for Frances
Betty D made this Pineapple for a December wedding gift
The Pineapple quilt is queen size, beautifully made quilt!!!
Baby quilt made by Janet M in 30's repros

Made by Linda E for her son
 Linda's curved piecing is perfect!

Theresa Y made two quilts, this angel quilt and the one below
Theresa Y ~ quilt made in a Linda Ballard retreat for her brother
A close up of the quilting with pine cones and pine needles
There are three more that I quilted for JoAnn. She made a total of nine quilts for all of her grandchildren for Christmas! They are going to have a very special Christmas this year! I will do a separate post on JoAnn's quilts later this week. Hope everyone is enjoying the season and staying warm. As for me, I'm wrapped up in a quilt getting inspired on Pinterest!
Enjoy the Season!

ASQG Quilt Show Pics ~ I

Annie's Star Quilt Guild 2013 Quilt Show pictures ~ Part One
These are quilts made by my customers and quilted by Moonbear Designs

Japanese Dancers, made by Sally Jo Smith
She did all the applique and hand quilted this beauty!
My hand in it has disappeared! I basted this quilt for Sally on the longarm :0)

This one with Australian fabrics is made by Sandra E
Halisha of Emanations, the vendor where Sandra purchased her fabrics attends our show.  Sandra, Pam B and I bought lots more of her Australian fabrics! Halisha asked Sandra if she could take her quilt to International Quilt Festival in Houston. In a very small way a quilt I have quilted will be in Houston!

This is one made by our featured quilter Bev A
Made of silks! Quilted with an Antique Rose design
Bev quilts most of her quilts and does gorgeous work!
I will post more of her work in another post.

This is made by Pam B ~ Soul Searching
Quilted with a Sunflower design on this beauty

Love the hearts appliqued by Sandra E, quilted with stars and stripes.
Her border, some of the blocks and backing fabric is called American Pie, love it!

This beauty is appliqued by Kelly K ~ Coxcomb and Cactus
Custom quilted. Notice the Judges ribbon on this one!

Poinsettias' are quilted on this one for Teresa Y Christmas quilt

Farmer's Market for Cindy G. Cindy made this gorgeous quilt in a Linda Ballard retreat that she is rightfully proud of!
Brandie had a good pic of Cindy's quilt! Thank you Brandie :0)
One of the reasons I choose to do the Chicken Wire quilting design, is that the angle of the quilting went well with her perfect stars made with Flying Geese!

One more for Sandra E ~ Hot August Nights
This one was fun to quilt flames!

Two for Frances P, above is Here, Kitty, Kitty
and below is Dots Before Your Eyes.

Below is one custom quilted for Carole W ~ Mom's Sewing Room Floor

A few pics did not turn out. The lighting in the building is terrible :0(
