Two for Claudia

This 64 x 64 quilt made by Claudia
is completely made with "Brights" by Marcia Derse prints

Claudia picked the quilting design from the internet
just for this quilt. It's by Apricot Moon called Cool Beans

Wonderful prints and color! Wow
The backing is also from Marcia's line
Perfect for the backing! Claudia has a great eye for design
putting together these fabrics as well as the quilting design.

Claudia's second quilt is a baby quilt
made with Sandy Klop's American Jane prints

Quilted with Bubbles Everywhere
without the swirls
A design by Sweet Dream Studio

Love how Claudia often pieces her backings

Thank you Claudia!

Note to my customers, besides picking design ideas that you see here on my website, you are always welcome to pick something new from the internet like Claudia did. There is so much to choose from! Be sure to pick something available in .pat format formatted for my Innova longarm system. Tot ziens, Jo

Quilts for Pam and Alice

Quilt top made by Pam P
Great colors and the print fabric with birds is very nice. It's a large quilt and one that seen from a distance as in a photo the pattern is even better. It's made up of the same block rotated with a great layout for the center, nice!

The print with birds is the backing, the outer border and pieced into the blocks.

Quilted with an e2e from Sweet Dreams Studio named Williamsburg
using an Omni thread in the color Hazelnut
just the same color as the birds.

Pam and her MIL, Alice both started bringing quilts in for quilting last year. Alice made the two big star quilts made from panels that I quilted earlier. This is a third one she finished...
 Great kaleidoscope effect!
These panels depict a Japanese woman by a pond with flowers
so I quilted an e2e of purple Koi swimming in a purple pond ;0)

One more quilted for Alice, actually top made by Delores for Alice
Diamonds
Alice choose a new quilting pattern that we thought would work in the diamonds
Quilted with Sweet Peas! using a Fantastico thread from Superior named Rainbows
The swirls in the quilting design also goes well with the fabrics

Sweet Peas, a fun design from One Song Needle Arts

Will save a few more for another post. After working a Saturday to make up some time, I am ready to enjoy the rest of the weekend. Hope you do the same!

Big stars made by Alice

Two of last week's quilted finishes...
Big stars made by Alice
Two quilts, both large... 104 x 104 made with panels cut into diamonds and pieced by Alice into stars. Mostly oriental fabrics, these panels are birds. Love how the birds in the center of the 8 panel creates the swirl and great kaleidoscope effect all the way into the center of the star. There was allot of gold in the prints so both of these quilts were quilted with a gold Glide.
 Close up of the birds
and the center

Quilting design is Seaweed by Anne Bright

Alice's second star is made with 8 Japanese Geisha Girl panels
She is holding string instruments and surrounded by flowers. Quilted with a floral design by Sweet Dream Studios stitched with the gold Glide thread on more gold print oriental fabrics that Alice used to make this quilt. Both are quilted with Quilter's Dream Puff Poly. A nice alternative to wool if you prefer a polyester bat, it has the same nice loft.

Enjoy your week

Hot Air Balloons

quilted on a baby quilt made by Donna
A fun design by Dave Hudson
available from Digi-tech

The perfect choice requested by Donna for this quilt
Quilted with wool batting using an Omni thread
Love how the quilting shows on the Radiance fabric Donna used for the inner border

The backing is a dark brown minkee which is why I chose to use a darker thread color in Gray Slate. I also added a layer of thin cotton batting over the wool because the dark backing was shadowing thru to the top. Donna was happy with this little baby. Thank you Donna!

It's a good thing last week was productive as I can't say the same for this week. I finished a quilt last night for Janie and will post pix later with today's daylight. That makes two quilts finished this week. I do have lots more in the wings including 2 really cute Snowman quilts that I have been working on. Lots of applique and hand embroidery so they are being hand guided which takes more time to finish and fun to do! There are three more applique quilts waiting their turns, one for Linda D, Judy J and Sandy. Plus more booked until August! Annie's Star Quilt Guild's show is in November this year and everyone is busy getting quilts ready for the show.

A few guild responsibilities taken care of this week, time spent on my digital files and trouble shooting some format issues with Jessica at Digi-tech for Auto Pilot. Getting the right format that will run properly on older pre-AP designs is what we worked on. Very happy with Digi-tech. There are still designers out there that do not offer .pat format. (Note to other Innova/Auto Pilot users ~ .dxf will download onto AP and the system will reformat it into .pat however, they do NOT stitch out properly! Start and End points get changed and many do not run in one continues stitch) All of the patterns that Digi-tech offer in .pat run perfectly! They offer a great selection of designs from different designers plus digitized machine embroidery designs as well. Thank you Jessica!

Anne Bright and Sweet Dreams Studio also digitize in .pat format. These two, Digi-Tech and Apricot Moon are the resources I turn to for computerized designs. If you see a design on their websites you would like quilted on your quilt top, just ask! If I don't have it in my file, downloading and making it available for you is a cinch!

 Enjoy your weekend

A couple of Finishes

The stars on Linda E's quilt shine!!!
Perfect piecing in great batiks,
dark to light neutrals with a splash of deep red and purple
Quilted and on my worktable. Still raining so no outdoor full view pix :0(
Linda's quilt has a great layout. It is 87 x 87 square.
What you can see on the table is a mirror image of the other side
The backing. Top and bottom thread is Glide in Viking, a medium purple
The same thread quilted on Pam's Swoon, different look but just as effective!

Quilted with a Swirl and Feather block design repeated
creating a secondary design at the intersections of the blocks
Love Linda's pops of red and purple and gold
Thank you Linda!

For a big change of pace...
Check out this fun cat fabric Cindy G put togther
with this fun cat border fabric.
If this quilt doesn't make you smile... well!!!
Quilted with a design from Apricot Moon
named Catrina, cats and curly swirls!
Fun quilt!

A second for Cindy
A cozy flannel quilt in all sorts of flannel prints!
Scrappy!!! with a leaf print flannel backing
Leaf e2e quilting with a cotton thread from Signature called Wheat
These two went home with Cindy after our guild meeting last night.
Cindy is a fellow Annie's Star Quilt Guild member and made one of the
Challenge quilts displayed at our December meeting

Cindy's is the arm chair with the Golden Book
in the upper right corner
The theme was reading and Cindy's is great!
One more quilt for Cindy G quilted on my Innova
last week, this beauty is all batiks including the back
With allot of ocean and water inspired prints
Cindy choose Under the Deep Blue Sea e2e by Sweet Dreams Studio
The movement of the pattern with swirls and pearls
just works really well with batiks
Love this thread as well as Cindy's quilt and choices! Well done :0)
Thank you Cindy!

One more done previously. It's been in the hands of Goldie for binding
and is now back in my studio ready for it's maker, Faye
Goldie did a beautiful job of binding!
As discussed with Faye, I kept the quilting very simple. Faye requested a 1/4 inch stitch which is perfect for this era of quilt style and the fabrics. Her Baseball blocks, she calls them, also known as Apple Core, are all hand pieced by Faye since she was a young girl. She kept adding to it over the years and is now (I believe) in her 80s. Her daughter drove her to meet with me and recognized many of the fabrics from dresses Faye made for her as a child. So these fabrics are the real deal, no repros! Here are some close ups of a few...

This last one is an example of one of the 'newer' fabrics
Faye added in more recent years :0)

Thank you Faye for trusting your well loved quilt
to Goldie and I to finish for you!

We are getting more rain! All good but a little break would be OK too!
Our parched soils are starting to slide and all of the leaves are wet and gooey
The upside is that my truck is clean! :0)

Enjoy your weekend. Make some time to take some stitches!
I will be working on Frozen Quilts for a pair of sisters

Batik Star Sampler for Bettie

OK, now I know I am tiered, just posted on the wrong blog so if you see something about Frozen quilts, refer to my quilt blog! That's where I moved the post :0) silly me!

In it's place are pix of a recent customer quilt finished in November ...

This beauty is quilted for Bettie C

Bettie is a new to me customer, definitely not new to quilting! This is one gorgeous well made quilt!!! Loved everything about it. The colors, the batik fabrics, the pattern (a BOM offered at Morning Star Quilts in Paradise CA) Love, love, love!!!

Quilted with Deep Blue Sea, a nice combination of swirls and pearls
In addition to the e2e, borders and corners were also quilted in the outer borders.
A digital design set from Sweet Dreams Studio
Perfect for this quilt with it's colors and the batik prints!
They were made for each other :0) along with the Marine blue Glide thread
 Perfection!
Quilted with wool batting... love love love!!!

Quilt almost all laid out on my worktable.
We've had rain, for more than one day... YEA!!!
Good for the earth, not so good for taking pix outdoors
so this is the best shot I can get of this beauty in it's entirety :0)
Did I mention... love love love!
Bettie was pleased as well, that's always the best part!
 Thank you Bettie :0)

Thank you for stopping by! Groetjes, Jo
