Gems in the Ruff
Gems in the Ruff was a 2006 New Years Day Mystery quilt by Planet Patchwork. I have done many NYD mystery quilts and this is by far my favorite. Started on New Years Day 2006, there were many mistakes in the directions and set aside. In the Fall of 2006 after allot of un sewing, the top was finished while I was in Colorado following Mark's suicide. It was the last quilt I worked on for three years. In Feb 2010 I took this quilt out of storage and quilted for Shari, diagnosed with colon cancer, she passed away later that year. Quilting has become my therapy. The process of cutting something apart and rebuilding it into something different and beautiful!
