Carol's Gravity

Wow, it's been over a month since I posted! Yikes
Years ago my cousin told me that time goes by faster as one gets older.
Never knew what she meant then... I sure get it now!

Anyway a little catsup

This is Gravity, a quilt by Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts
Made by Carol F

Carol pieced her Gravity from gold, cream and white on white fabrics :0)
Very different and I love it!

Beginning of the stitch out

The inspiration design ~ Feather Diamond by Jessica Schick of Digi-Tech
stitched out in the center star.

and then framed by 2 different sets of designs by Nancy Haacke of Wasatch Quilting

This quilt is larger than the pattern. Carol added to all four sides to make it fit a King size bed
It took up most of my 12 foot frame with just enough room for the sew head :0)

Quilted with Quilter's Dream Wool... love the loft!
It adds so much texture to the white on white background fabrics :0)
Fantastico Gold variegated thread in the center stars
with Glide Cool Grey stitched on all of the white on white background.

I was very glad that I made this quilt (neither of us knew the other was working on the same quilt pattern :0) because it made it easier to layout a design and keep track of the diamonds.
Can't wait to quilt my own!!!

Thank you Carol!

In addition to the time spent on this quilt, additional quilts have been completed as well.
Still spending more time quilting than posting trying to keep up
with all of my customers!
I do believe with all the rain this year, everyone is indoors piecing and finishing tops!

Linda's Painted Forest

Linda's Painted Forest

Freshly quilted with Mid-Century by Patricia Ritter available at Digi-Tech
Thread is Superior's SoFine40 in a variegated green
Batting is Quilter's Dream Cotton

Every leaf section is a different fabric with lots of critters too!
Linda's goal was to make it a sort of 'I Spy' for the kids :0)

Fun backing that has pretty much every color and she matched the
pattern in the center seam beautifully! Not an easy task with circles!

Linda made this quilt top in my Painted Forest workshop at Cathy's Honey Run Quilters
Thank you Linda :0) for taking the class and being one of my favorite customers!

Painted Forest is a pattern by Scott Hansen of Blue Nickle Studios
Here are more trees in progress during the first workshop...

Donna's trees in batiks with a dramatic dark background!
Really makes the color pop!!!

Ronda's trees in Kaffe

 Lisa's trees (center)

Grace's trees ~ love the gradient background!
Pam's trees made in Aboriginal fabrics
Pam made 5 trees to be made into a wall hanging

 Karen's trees also in Aboriginal

Lisa's trees in batik with a light background.
Love how the fabrics makes each of these quilts unique!!!
Sew much fun and more to come!

There was a waiting list for the first workshop that filled up right away!
2 new ones are set up for March & April.

Two days and times to choose from...

Three for Leslie

Leslie brought in three quilts in the Fall to be quilted for the holidays
This one was gifted to a family member at Christmas

Leslie loves to work with 30's fabrics :0)

Blue backing, same fabric as the cornerstones.

Second quilt pieced by Leslie quilted with a custom e2e set up :0)

Number three below with a little different layout
this one the nine patch is straight set while the one above is set on point.

The blocks for the last two are the same all in 30's fabrics.
I used a number of different designs, some I came up with.
All of the feather designs are from One Song Needle Arts via Digi-Tech.

The beginning stitch out of the first quilt for Leslie that was done custom.
Thank you Leslie!

I am headed for Road to California to spend all four days at the show!
Hope to see some friendly faces there. I will be in Innova's booth 826
answering questions and playing on the longarms!
Studio will be closed until next week Wednesday, the 25th.
Michael will be here making sure nothing floats away
and holding down the fort with the next storm system coming in :0)

Sandy and Phoebe, Scrap Happy Beauties

The unexpected loss of our quilting friend just before the holidays really knocked the stuffing out of many of us. I know I did more quilts for Sandy but not finding the file this evening with the exception of the Library Quilt. Didn't post allot of pix during December because I knew many of these beauties were intended as Christmas gifts including this quilt. The downside of waiting to post pix... is finding the photo files. Just like everything else in my life... chaos that needs organizing!!!  😞

Sandy's Library Quilt

Custom quilted with lots of fun ruler work. This was fun quilting to do for Sandy!
Added a little steam coming off the coffee cup :0)
The recipient of this quilt also loves Monopoly
plus Sandy added DVDs and book set favorites.

Love how Sandy made this scrappy ;0)

and this is Star Blossoms for Phoebe...
Scrappy as well!
I know exactly what book this came from... Scrap-Basket Beauties
by Kim Brackett. This quilt in the book is named Star Blossoms
and I absolutely love how Phoebe did it in Kaffe. Well done Phoebe!!!
This book was one of Goldie's favorites 💖

Custom quilting with a block design

Phoebe always picks a backing that's just as fun as the top! 👍

Thank you ladies... you are THE BEST!

Getting back in gear!

It's going to be an interesting new year
