Saturday Morning Post ~ pix from Ramblin' Rows

Working on two more quilts for our upcoming quilt show in Chico, CA. On my frame is Amaretto Cottage, not quite halfway. I may add a pic later today once the sun is up and can get some back lighting across my frame.

Since I don't have customer quilt pix to share
here are two quilt projects I am working on...

This is Calypso Kaleidoscope, a 2015 BOM
where I went off track and coming up with my own blocks to finish this quilt
before the end of the year as scheduled :0) Pulled from batik stash.
Keeps me balanced working with batiks to Civil War...

Well, most of these are CW, there are a few Thimbleberries in there too.
They play nice :0)  All scraps from my Amaretto Cottage quilt.

The blocks above are from Lori's Mystery Country Road quilt along
post on her blog Humble Quilts. It's a reproduction of an old quilt she found...
here is a link to her post with pix of her finished top and the inspiration quilt
More about my projects on my quilt blog Ramblin' Rows

These two won't be finished in time for the show however,
there will be lots of quilts at the show coming up soon!

Look who lives in these houses!

Freddy Moran houses!
Painted bright and set in black and white. Classic Freddy!
This quilt was organized by Carol G and blocks were made by her small group,
members of Annie's Star Quilt Guild as a fund raiser for KIXE our local PBS station.
There is a fish living in this house! Love the roof :0)
And Winnie the Pooh lives here!
The red one must be the dog house ;0)
The backing

Fun quilt! Carol presented the quilt at our guild's meeting Thursday. Quilted for community service, I used neon green threads, Glide on the back and a Fantastico on the front. Quilting design is Peacock Feathers by Apricot Moon. I believe it was a cotton poly blend for batting as it had more loft than the Warm and Natural community service used in the past. Speaking of batting, I just finished a customer quilt with the new Tuscany batting from Hobbs. It's a cotton and wool blend. I LOVE it!!! I haven't taken pix yet along with a couple more quilts finished this week. Next post :0) Our guest speaker at the guild meeting was Mary Kay Davis. Really good trunk show and workshop yesterday.

We are quite happy with a good rain storm that moved in yesterday. It poured and we need the water. Less wind would be better tho. Good weather to work on some quilt projects. That's what I have planned, to finish a top I started yesterday in our guild's workshop at HRQ with Mary Kay. Pix of everyone's tops posted on Ramblin' Rows.

btw... there is a Sue Spargo workshop coming up at the end of March with a few spaces still available. 5 days of classes... Honey Run Quilters for more info!

Three custom quilted plus Sample for Honey Run

A few small ones quilted this week.
First up is a quilt for Phoebe, a 3D pinwheel made with Prairie Points. Very cute!
Custom quilted with several geometric line designs, this is the back...
Sailboats for Beckie ~ a baby quilt for Chelsy with cute sailboat fabric. The backing is the same print fabric with a white background instead of blue. Beckie is also making a matching valance!
Custom quilted with block designs of fish, sailboats and a star center. A Sand Dollar outer border with shells in the corners and the red inner border is quilted with a wave design. I also added waves to her appliqued sailboats and stitched around the sails.

A baby quilt for Betty D that she made for her daughter's BFF
A VERY cute ballerina fabric that sparkles! She requested ballet slippers to be quilted in the alternate blocks and I found just what she described on Kim Diamond's website ~ Sweet Dreams Studio
Quilted in pink with a flannel backing. Sew cute and great choices!

A sample quilt for Honey Run Quilters for one of the quilt shows coming up.
Not sure which show this one will be in as Honey Run/Cathy's Sew & Vac will be at our Chico guild's ASQG quilt show and Quilting in the Garden both coming up Sept. 28 and 29.

This quilt will be offered as a kit with the embroidery designs stitched for you! If not available at Annie's Star Quilt Guild's Harvest of Quilts it will be available in the store after the shows :0)
All of the quilting designs that I added are from One Song Needle Arts
I have two big quilts in the works that will be completed by tomorrow plus I finished the quilting on one of my quilts, the Medallion is quilted! YEA!!!
Pics are posted on my blog Ramblin' Rows

If you plan to be in Chico, please stop by our quilt show!
Enjoy the day, stitching away!

August quilts

Progress on customer quilts...
Two more for Sandra E, Horses quilted with Lassos...
Stars and Stripes quilted on this patriotic quilt
 Love Sandra's applique hearts
This is her backing pieced with extra blocks, the background fabric is called American Pie!
Sandra brought in two more when she picked these up :0)

A modern quilt for Claudia quilted with oval swirls...
A traditional one in 19th Century colors, also for Claudia...
Quilted with a new pattern called Williamsburg by Kim Diamond
Claudia has a third one that is still on the longarm. I'll show better pics next week once they are trimmed and I get photos of whole quilts.

This is a quilt top made and quilted for JoAnn with binding added that she will hand stitch. Lots of nine patches in the borders! JoAnn brought 2 more quilts for quilting yesterday :0)

A custom quilt with applique for Linda
and a second quilt for Linda with owls. Sew cute!
She will add eyes now that it's quilted

Beckie brought in another when she picked up her quilts from last week. Theresa, Marna and Heidi finished two quilts that will be quilted for the shop, Honey Run Quilters. And a new customer brought in a quilt today.
More quilts came in than went out. Actually, there are two more I quilted this week that are not trimmed or photos taken, so the count may be even? I've lost count!
Good thing it's Friday afternoon and time to wrap up the week.

Have a wonderful weekend. I will be working on my August UFO's and finishing the quilting on my Medallion quilt (Click to see) using the new table. Yea!
Thank you to all of my wonderful customers and thank you for stopping by for a visit :0)

Baby Quilts and wall hangings

Big change! I am working on a new look for my blog! Still a work in progress, setting this blog up for my longarm quilting business. I am using templates as I have absolutely no Web Design knowledge. In spite of that am quite pleased with the results thus far. What do you think?

This blog will feature quilts made by customers and my machine quilting. Ramblin' Rows ia a new blog I set up where you can find my quilts and projects! Here are a few customer quilts completed... two baby quilts and two small wall hangings...

Hello Kitty baby quilt made by Donna ~ sew cute!
We both loved how the quilting looked on the pink Minkee backing :0) In fact Donna made a second Hello Kitty quilt and we finished it the same!
Semi-custom quilted with a center quilting design called Lucky Charms, I used a flower border design and added a simple flower in the corner.

Using some of the same quilting designs, this baby quilt was quilted for Janet
A cow and flower border design, the simple flower motif in the corner and in the pieced inner border. I thought it went well with Janet's Barnyard fabrics from Moda. Too cute!

A small quilt for Phoebe with individual block designs and a geometric border

And this beautiful wall hanging made by a customer. It is her first attempt at fusible applique!
She did a great job, even added a folded inner border
I quilted a scroll/vine border and stipple quilted the center background in black thread.
Added outline stitching and SID around the veggies details with an invisible thread.

Thanks for looking! Time to head into my workroom. Today I am working on 11 board mounted valances! I still have a little bit of work doing window treatments. Not much after 2008 and the housing bubble burst. That's when I started looking into a longarm business and am very happy I did.
Enjoy the day and take some time to do some stitching!

Ramblin' Rows

I started a new blog along with a longarm quilting business! After choosing 3 different names I came up with Ramblin' Rows for my personal blog. A play on Ramblin' Rose replaced by Rows for block rows and rows of veggies! That covers quilting and gardening, my two favorite pastimes. Here is my first post. Still have a few bugs to work out.

This blog is going to be dedicated to my Longarm business, Moonbear Designs & Quilting. It already has my business name. It will be set up to make it easier for customers to find info on my quilting services. Posts will be about customer quilts, thread, batting and about my classes at Honey Run Quilters and Cathy's.

You are all welcome to check in with us and see what we are up to. I hope you do as well as follow my new personal quilting blog! There will be a link on each side bar from one blog to the other. TIA

I am using this pic of my Medallion quilt for Lori and Randy's SAL for the Ramblin' Rows blog header. I have all of the flowers and birds ready to applique on the last border. Stems and leaves soon!

We are back to 'normal' summer temps in the 90s here in the North Valley. July 4th reached a high of 111! It was miserable and humid! We had a small thunderhead, a short downpour and humidity at 9 am Thursday morning to 'cool' us off (very unusual for here, it felt like we were back in Texas!)

This is the little thunderhead that dumped on us. If I were still living in the mountains this would have been no big deal. You know you live in Chico when a 'cool down' is 96 degrees F and feels great!
